    He's definitely one of my idols. If you make anymore videos (and I really hope you do!) I'd love one on the ridiculousness of Katt Williams. Like how he gets ALL of his physical jokes to land gloriously 😅 never, ever cringe. I want to do more physical comedy but no one talks about the intricacies of it.

    If you’re not first (pray you’re not) listen for any similar jokes you’ve came up with if people respond to them. Current events are good things to talk about. Double down on the moment and keep touching on the point you’re trying to make and revisit it in different ways. (Sometimes it writes itself while it’s happening) Don’t be afraid to be yourself instead of following a script you wrote. The crowd responds more naturally to you. Make arcs and segways. Talk about yourself and make fun of yourself which is basically introducing yourself. Silence is your friend and sometimes not saying anything and making gestures or faces can pull people in. Laughter is contagious and a big crowd of people is pretty easy cuz they wanna laugh. Open mic night with comedians only is a pissing contest and they hold in laughter so you don’t get any satisfaction so try to avoid those crowds. Please please for the love of god avoid gross out humor. It’s cheap and it turns people off especially if they’re eating. It also shows inexperience and no skill or self awareness. Clean comedy is always usually the way to go to be booked and the real good comics are the ones who know how to use dirty humor the right way. Work on pull in jokes like hey what’s your favorite color no one is talking to you sir. Like trick them into a joke. And lastly just poke fun at anyone or anything in the room. People like being included or notice something that everyone is probably thinking of. Like a phone going off or someone being loud. Point out the obvious. Make people relate to you in the moment. That’s 11 years of doing stand up comedy experience for you. Hope all this helps!

    I typically think that you need to write your things during the day on your phone and trying to think about the comedy of things that happens in the moments you do whatever you do during the day - and write it down on your phone and that way you're gonna remember lots of things during your past life and you'll be able to add it to your sketch on your phone

    It took me a while just to write jokes, then now I finally feel I might have my 5-6 min set that I can finally practice and get to stage. It was hard cause I really didn't like any of my jokes and didn't have confidence, but now that the writing is out of the way I can finally commit to practicing so I can take to stage. FINALLY! lol any tips for memorizing?

    Why are *all* the comedians you talk about dudes? Have you never seen a woman do comedy?

    • @LetsTalkComedy
      @LetsTalkComedy Месяц назад

      I have. I booked probably over 500 of them when I was running gigs in London. I've shared the stage with roughly another 500 over the last 24 years at pro levels. Comics who are guys have a much better reach on RUclips since it's around 60% men who use the platform. Nearly 85% of people who watch my channel are guys, therefore the most requests I get are for famous men doing stand up. In my experience, at the semi pro level, women are funnier than men and have more interesting material, however famous women comics are all doing the same boring material about not being able to get guys. If you have someone you'd like me to talk about feel free to mention them, do you know the names of any female comics?

    Another trick for not being able to look people in the eyes is, if you wear glasses or contacts, don’t wear them. I did that and I was able to look at a mass of blurry faces while appearing to be confident.

  • @MikesOrganicVideos
    @MikesOrganicVideos 3 месяца назад

    Some good tips here. I’ve been trying to use act outs since my first Open Mic last November. After seeing how effective they were for guys like Bill Burr and Sebastian Maniscalco. I know I have to get better at moving around on stage, although I certainly do try and look all around at every part of the audience. Have to think more about the front and back as opposed to side to side. I’m honestly not completely comfortable with making up fictitious people for jokes. Worried about the slippery slope, like what happened with Hasan Minhaj. But I guess a little bit of exaggeration of actual events, for comedic purposes, only, and not to distort the truth, is OK.my last five minute stand-up set actually mentioned something in reference to my Facebook page, but probably nothing that would attract anybody to go to my page. Will have to work on that. Try to come up with something worth mentioning in my next set. Thanks again for the tips.

    Have you ever noticed how ridiculous it is that were expected to have our lives figured out by age 25? I mean, i still cant even fold a fitted sheet at all. And yet, im supposed to know what i want to do with rest of my life? Its like trying to ask a Make A Wish kid to live Its like trying to ask a group of engineers to not overcomplicate a simple task Its like trying to ask a narcissist to think of others Its like taco bell keeping their good shit on the menu, it just doesnt happen Its like fat guy walk up more than one flight of stairs, by the end your out of breath and lowkey scared to go back down
